Today’s exhortation – a matter of time
I have found that if we listen and observe the things around us carefully, we will see that God speaks to us through them. It is often subtle but that’s all it takes. As I drove to work yesterday, it was raining quite heavily and it was dark and gloomy because of the dark clouds. About half way into my journey, a gap appeared in the clouds and a rainbow appeared. I couldn’t help but smile because it felt like God was speaking. He was saying He hasn’t forgotten His promises to us and it’s all only a matter of time. I was reminded of what He said to Noah after the flood, “Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between Me and you…” (Genesis 9:14-15)
God has a time for everything and for everyone. When Mary approached The Lord Jesus at a wedding and asked Him to do something because the wine had ran out, He replied. “My time has not yet come.” (John 2:4). That tells me that everyone has their time. So while we wait for our’s, let’s celebrate the successes of others and most importantly, let’s give thanks to The Lord for He is faithful and doesn’t forget His promises. As Joshua said, “You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed…” (Joshua 23:14). Amen
