Today’s exhortation – God knows best
I saw a man gardening recently and as I watched him, I saw him pull out some beautiful flowers from a flower bed and throw them into a rubbish bag. I asked him why he was throwing throwing them away. His reply was, “they are weeds. If I leave them to grow any bigger, they will outgrow the others and cause them to die.” Yesterday a friend of mine lost out on a job she really wanted. She had all the qualifications and experience required but was still passed over for the job. Her confidence was understandably shattered. There are many people going through stuff like that but don’t despair, God knows best and not all that glitters is gold.
Weeds are essentially any plants that are not desired in the landscape. The most pesky weeds are those that grow quickly and out-compete desired plants for soil moisture, nutrients and sunlight. Some plants may look good, but they may not be good for us. Sometimes, The Lord may prevent us receiving some things that appear good to us or He may remove them from our lives because they may cause us more harm than good. The bible says God The Father is the Gardener (John 15:1). Therefore as the Gardener, He alone knows what kind of plants He wants growing in us, His garden. We can also be absolutely certain that He loves us and no good thing will He withhold from those who love Him. (Psalm 84:11). Amen
