Today’s exhortation – Encourage yourself
There are times when we can’t turn to anyone but ourselves to find encouragement. Presumably, we have all been in situations where for one reason or the other we have been greatly distressed because of false accusations, backlash for standing up for the for the truth, turning our backs on peer pressure or daring to be different or just feeling distressed due to personal problems. Sometimes, matters can be compounded even further when our friends or the people we normally turn to don’t show empathy because they just don’t understand or they are those responsible for our distress.
In situations like that don’t be discouraged or feel all alone and abandoned. David found himself in a similar situation and here’s what he did. The bible says, David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God. (1 Samuel 30:6). I believe instead of allowing the circumstances to get to us, we must do what he did. He encouraged and strengthened himself in The Lord our God. Get on your knees and pray and get up on your feet and praise. Amen! Have a blessed day
