Today’s exhortation – let’s be real

We shouldn’t feel embarrassed to ask for help when we are discouraged. There’s a perception that only people who are sinful, weak or failures get discouraged. Great warriors like Joshua who were in the will of God got discouraged too. God said to him, “Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the Lord your God, am with you wherever you go.” (‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬) Everyone goes through it and so we don’t need to pretend we are winning when in fact we are not. Whether it’s in our marriages, families or friendships, or through disappointments, grief, failures, depression, bereavement, betrayal, debt, financial losses, etc. We are being robbed of our joy, because we are afraid of people’s opinion and judgemental attitudes.

We have to ask for help and talk about it if we are to get out of it. It doesn’t matter how righteous or successful you are, it can happen to you too. The bible tells us the same afflictions are suffered by all! It says, … you know that other believers in all the world are going through the same kind of sufferings. (‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭9‬). Let’s be real with each other so that we may encourage one another. Whether we admit it or not, we need each other. No man is an island. Amen
