Today’s Exhortation – help! Lord

What happens when we have done all we can to have faith but fear is still right at our door ? We know deep down the Lord is with us, but somehow we can’t shake the fear. Jesus was in a boat with his disciples crossing the sea. He was asleep in the back when a storm arose. The disciples woke Him up and said, “Master, don’t you care that we are about to die?” Jesus stood up and commanded the wind, “Be quiet!” and He said to the waves, “Be still!” The wind died down, and there was a great calm. (Mark 4:38-39). Even though The Lord was in the boat, they still encountered storms and even when they could actually see Him with them, fear still came upon them.

Similarly even though The Lord is with us at all times, there may be times when we’ll get into storms and experience fear. The disciples had seen Him do many miracles but they still feared. As Christians we must have faith, but there are times when the situation gets to us and we become afraid. What did the disciples do? They roused Him and asked for help. My friends, there’s no shame in admitting we are afraid and calling out for help. The Lord understands our short comings. It’s in these moments that we develop faith, but like learning to ride a bike, we will fall off a few times before we get the hang of it. Let’s get others to help us pray if we are in a storm right now and let’s also ask The Lord to calm the storm because He cares. Have a good week. Amen
