Today’s exhortation – God’s good gifts

I was driving down the road one day and enjoying the sun being out which is rare in England. I was singing along to the music and enjoying myself. Suddenly I started feeling guilty for enjoying myself. I thought to myself, “there are people suffering and look at me enjoying myself. All this goodness has made me lazy. I don’t pursue God as much now. He’s given me all this stuff and I have become lazy. Maybe if I didn’t have them, I will be more hungry for God.” Almost instantly, The Lord spoke to me and said “son, the gifts of God are to be enjoyed”.

The bible says, Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17). All good things are from Him and are to be enjoyed. He’s given them to us for our enjoyment and for His pleasure. He delights in giving us good things. It is written, For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud… (‭Psalms‬ ‭149‬:‭4-5‬). Amen
