Today’s exhortation – Resting

In the life study of Abraham, its become apparent that every part of the narration is very important. In light of that, I want to draw attention to what Abraham was doing when The Lord physically appeared to him. The bible says, Then the LORD appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day. (‭Genesis‬ ‭18‬:‭1‬). It appears that Abraham was resting when The Lord appeared to him. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. The Lord places an importance on resting and He created every living thing to have a moment of rest.

Rest is a very important part of our existence and if we are to be at our optimum both physically and spiritually then we must rest! When The Lord instituted the law, He made a place for rest and the the children of Israel were sent into captivity for not letting the land rest. What does that mean? I believe that sometimes we fall ill and are bed ridden so we can be made to rest! In our modern existence, we don’t know how to rest, but it’s very important for us to. There’s nothing wrong with ceasing from our work to rest. Please enjoy your weekend and rest. God richly bless you. Amen
