Today’s exhortation – let it go
It’s a strange thing when you tell people that God does test His children, but the bible does tell us that He does. What does that look like? I can’t say, but from Abraham’s story, it may be giving up something that’s very dear to us or we have grown so close to that it may have come between us and God. The bible says God will not share His glory with anyone and I believe that includes us. Anyone who marries a woman is unwilling to share her with anyone else. The bible says we are the bride of Christ and I believe He doesn’t want to share us with the many things we have going in our lives which have robbed Him of us spending time with Him.
The bible says, Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” (Genesis 22:1-2). I believe there may be times like that in our lives that we may find ourselves in Abraham’s shoes. We come to a crossroad and have to make choices on whether to sacrifice a relationship or our independence to make room for the Lord. If you find yourself at such a place now, I would like to encourage you not to hesitate because what God has in store for you is much greater than what you are trying to hold on to. Amen
