Today’s exhortation – single mothers
Being a single mother isn’t easy. Some have no help and have been left to raise their children on their own. Some days are tough because of lack and they are left wondering where the next meal or money to pay bills will come from. The story of Hagar’s plight should encourage you to see that The Lord’s sees and hears your children’s needs and He will provide for them. Hagar was Sarah’s slave whom she gave to Abraham to have a son with because she herself was barren. It wasn’t Hagar’s choice, it was thrust upon her. Sometime later, she was kicked out of the house along with her son with only a skin of water and bread and sent away into the wilderness, no friends or relatives to help!
Everything run out and they were left with nothing. The bible says, she said to herself, “Let me not see the death of the boy.” So she sat opposite him, and lifted her voice and wept. And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation.” Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink. (Genesis 21:16-19). He’s the same yesterday, today and forever! He will do the same for you. Amen
