Today’s exhortation- exceedingly great reward
As we continue the life study of Abraham who’s name was Abram, we see that his being called by God didn’t exempt him from famines, persecution and warfare. Much like us today, being called by God doesn’t mean we or members of our family won’t go through trials, famine and warfare. Abram had to fight to get his nephew Lot free from captivity and sometimes so must we. The devil has captured some of our brothers, daughters, sisters, sons, nephews etc through addictions, physical and mental health illness, depression, etc, but all is not lost! After all the famine, trials and warfare that Abram went through, the bible says,
After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I Am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” (Genesis 15:1).
Just like Abram, despite all the trials that we will go through, we must give no place to fear for God is our shield and protector, our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. He’s also our exceedingly great reward so we must seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to us. (Matthew 6:33). All the dreams, visions, gifts and blessings we desire shall be added to us for no good gift will He withhold from them that love Him. Amen
