Today’s exhortation – Christians
Names are very important and we find that after God called some people, He changed their name to reflect their destiny. What we hear can impact our faith because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17). I believe that’s one of the reasons why God changed Abram’s name to Abraham which means father of many nations. He needed to hear what God was saying about him and every time he was called Abraham, faith rose in him. That’s why it’s important we give our children names that will impact them in a positive way.
We too in a sense have undergone a name change through The Lord Jesus. He’s changed our names from Gentiles to Christians. What does that mean? I believe it means whenever we’re called Christians, our first thought should be ‘I am a child of God! I have been born again, liberated and no a longer slave to fear.’ We are in the most powerful family in the universe whose Father is The Almighty God. We have the most powerful weapons in the universe, the Name of Jesus and His Blood and we have His authority over every power. It means no weapon formed against us shall prosper and we are as bold as lions. I think that should inspire faith in us because if God be for us, who can be against us? In all things we are more than conquerors. Hallelujah!
