Today’s exhortation – strength to hope
I believe when God gives us a promise He also gives us the strength to step out in faith. Have you considered that even though Abraham was 100 years old and his wife 90years old, they carried on having sex when maybe they didn’t have the strength to? But God still gave both them the strength to have sex ? Physically it should have been impossible but it didn’t keep Abraham from trying with Sarah because he had hope! God’s promises are yes and Amen in Christ Jesus. That means it is done! Two old folks with no possibility of being able to have children kept trying because of God’s promise. What excuse do we have?
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. (Proverbs 13:12) We mustn’t give up hope because God will make it happen by all means including giving us strength. When we get into difficulties, the circumstances must be considered, but we must choose to consider the promise of greater weight than the situation. Yes, our bank account may be empty and the bills are due, but it is still possible for God to meet our need. How can we believe that? We can because we have a promise in Philippians 4:19 that tells us God will meet our needs. Amen
