Today’s exhortation – life study of Joseph

Joseph’s life study has taught me that in order for us to have peace about the things God wants us to do, we’ve to have a deep relationship with Him. It’s through that we can learn to trust and obey God and trust produces faith! The way Joseph responded to God’s directions indicates that he had a deep trust in God. Despite the obvious challenges with what God asked him to do, he just did it. Firstly, he was obedient to God and married Mary. Joseph was believed to be around 90 years old when he married Mary. The question then is why would a man of that age be single with no children? How long had he been praying to God for a wife and children ? Then when he finally gets one, it seems that she may’ve cheated on him. He would then also go where God would lead him without questions or doubt.

The bible says when Herod sought to kill Jesus, “an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said “Get up, take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt.” So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt,” (Matthew‬ ‭2:13-14‬). He didn’t know exactly where they would go, where they would stay or their future. He just trusted God, got up and went. I believe God just wants us to trust Him for the direction in our lives. This means all areas of our lives, our finances, relationships, work. He has also taught me that sometimes we need to just go and let God worry about the rest.
