Today’s exhortation – life study of Joseph (father of Jesus)

Monday 21st December 2015

The life study of Joseph highlights the role of some very amazing men all over the world. Men who father children who aren’t their own. These wonderful men treat the children as their very own and raise them with all the love and care they would give to their own children. Thank you to all the wonderful step-fathers and foster parents all over the world, may God bless you for all you’ve done and continue to do. Joseph was such a man, he was unselfish and assumed the role of father to a Son that wasn’t his own. He later had children of his own with Mary but there’s no mention of favouritism from him. Joseph was also a poor man but that did not stop him being a good father. He was a carpenter which was apparently valued little in their day.

When the time for the child Jesus to be dedicated in the temple, they were only able to offer two birds which indicated their financial position. The bible states in Leviticus 12:8 that those who were unable to afford a lamb, should bring two doves or pigeons. God didn’t choose a well-to-do man to father Jesus, so we can be rest assured that our financial limitations won’t stop Him from using us too. By all indications, Joseph wasn’t a young man either and that also shows that age is not a barrier for God to use you. God bless you all. Have a blessed week.
