Today’s exhortation – take it easy
The Christmas season is here again and it’s supposed to be a happy occasion, but unfortunately some of us put ourselves under too much pressure to make our loved ones happy even to the point of getting into debt. It’s good to give gifts but getting depressed and worried when we can’t give is not what God desires for us. God Himself when He came to Earth on Christmas Day 2000 years ago kept it very simple. The King of kings opted out of being born in a palace and chose to be born in a stable. Let’s also keep it simple and give what we can because Christmas is not about how much you can give to someone, but about the most amazing event in history – the birth of Jesus!
Don’t let anything stress you out or make you anxious. Christmas is here for one day and then it’s gone, but the debts can remain long after. We don’t need to worry about what we need to get, how much we need to spend, who to spend it with etc. Whatever your need and concern, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7). Take it easy and take it to The Lord in prayer.
