Today’s exhortation – frustrated?

I believe our frustrations may be pointing us to our purpose. The saying goes, “Necessity is the mother of invention.” A need or problem encourages creative efforts to meet the need or solve the problem. Many of our creature comforts today came about because someone was frustrated with the status quo and came up with a solution. I witnessed my sister in law go through this whole process. In June 2015, there was a natural disaster in Accra, Ghana where a lot of lives were lost and properties damaged. My sister in law complained to a group of friends about her frustration with the lack of help being offered to those affected. One day, a friend asked her, “so what are you doing about it?” That question jolted her!

She came up with an idea of hosting an opera night and using the proceeds to help the victims of the flood. With no experience in event management, she was able to put it together and raise thousands of pounds for them. It reminds me of an incident in the bible were the disciples told Jesus to send the hungry people away to buy food for themselves. The bible says, “But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”” “And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”” Matthew‬ ‭14:16-17‬). When we see a problem, we may also be key to the solution. They had little, but it helped.
