Hi Everyone
Bob and I are both unavailable on Thursday to organise a meeting at NSY. If anyone is interested in getting the group together, ‘reply to all’ to suggest a venue. I haven’t booked the Press Room, but it may be available. Alternatively, you could meet in the NSY canteen.
Last week’s discussion on pain and suffering was very helpful in giving us an opportunity to reflect on how we would answer someone who finds it difficult to reconcile such challenges with the concept of a loving God. Later on that day, I read an email from 24-7 Rewind with an article by Peter Greig discussing Stephen Fry’s comments about suffering and God. If you want to read this article in its original form, visit http://24-7prayer.com/features/2445
The thing that speaks to me in all this is that God cares when a little bird drops down dead (Matt 10:29, Luke 12:6-7), so I’m sure that every bit of suffering this world has ever seen cuts him deeply! The question we have to ask ourselves is whether we believe that God is the source or the remedy for the pain and suffering we see around us. Personally, I believe wholeheartedly that God is truly and entirely GOOD! In this broken and fallen world, that operates outside of His design and intention, He is the only one who can redeem situations and bring good out of them. Whatever anyone is facing, I would urge them to trust Him in this.
”What is the price of five sparrows – two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a flock of sparrows.” Luke 12:6-7
I look forward to catching up next week.
Every blessing
