This prayer request is from Kirstie Banks-Lyon, Branch Leader for Lancashire.
My father, Stuart, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Prostate Cancer. He has decided to travel to Leipzig in Germany for surgery on Monday 21/10, and his operation is scheduled for Wednesday 23/10/13. It is anticipated that he will be in hospital for 8 days, and the plan is to travel back to Glasgow on Fri 1/11/13, unless there are complications.
Please can the family be upheld in prayer, at this time, for safe travel and also a speedy recovery from the surgery – my father has only spent three nights in hospital in 70 years, and has never had an operation!
24th October 2013 – Update
Further to the prayer request for Stuart Kemp, below, here is an update from Kirstie:
Surgery on 23 October went well. My father will remain in hospital until next Wednesday to recuperate, and the plan is for him to return to the UK on Friday 1 November. He will receive the results of the operation on Wednesday, and is obviously anxious about whether they have managed to remove the whole tumour.
Thank you everyone who has supported this matter with prayer.
Please keep praying for Stuart and the family.
31st October 2013 – Update
Here is the latest update from Kirstie Banks-Lyon on her father, Stuart Kemp, following the results of his surgery:
It turned out that Dad has an aggressive tumour. They have managed to remove the tumour but the cancer had spread to a couple of lymph nodes. He will need radiotherapy and hormone therapy, but is expected, after treatment, to be disease free.
If he had not travelled to Germany, he would be looking at a different prognosis.
Thank you for all the prayer support.
We are travelling back to Scotland tomorrow (Friday).
Please pray that the journey home would be a smooth one, and continue to hold Stuart and the family in your prayers.
