It was a great prayer meeting last Friday. The group in prayer felt called to focus on the persecution of Christians around the world.
I mentioned that recently I’d been told that in the last year 10,000 Christians have been martyred for doing no more than worshiping Jesus. However, sadly a look around the internet shows that this may be a grossly under-estimated figure.
The World Evangelical Alliance has reported that over 100 million believers, in more than 60 countries, are routinely denied the most basic human rights, simply because of their Christian faith? It has been estimated that 176,000 Christians were martyred from mid-2008 to mid-2009?, Emeal Zwayne, executive vice president of Living Waters, said that few Christians in the U.S. are even aware “that an estimated 176,000 Christians were martyred from mid-2008 to mid-2009.” (www.livingwaters.com).
Those of us that work within the UK police service here are free to worship, however we should remember in prayer those who live under oppression and risk of death because of their love for Our Lord Jesus.
Next Limehouse meeting, 7.30am Friday 2nd November, as usual we meet first in the canteen.
